Unreimbursed Medical Flexible
Spending Account How the
unreimbursed medical flexible spending account works:
You can use the unreimbursed
healthcare account to pay for most healthcare expenses not covered
by medical, dental or vision coverage. Please click
here for
a list that provides examples of eligible expenses, as well as
expenses not eligible for reimbursement.
Points to remember:
- You must file your claim through
any insurance coverage you have before submitting the
expense through your unreimbursed medical flexible spending
account.
- The full amount of your annual
amount pledged is available to you immediately.
- Do not
include your group medical/dental premium in your pretax
unreimbursed medical spending account amount.
- Save itemized bills for
out-of-pocket medical and dental expenses. When submitting a
claim, attach copies of the itemized bills or an explanation of
benefits (EOB) from your health plan for reimbursement.
- Remember that certain
over-the-counter medications (antacids, pain relievers, allergy
medications, cough medicines, etc.) are reimbursable
through the unreimbursed medical flexible spending account.
Vitamins and nutritional supplements do not qualify for
reimbursement, unless you have a physician statement of medical
necessity for these expenses.
- Any excess money in your account
will be forfeited.
