Over 130 Years of Caring
The first Bishop of Peoria, Bishop John Spalding, established The
Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis (OSF) as an independent
community in Peoria over 129 years ago. He did this to allow six
Sisters “to care for the sick” in one small building on Adams Street.
Today, with a healthcare system that includes hospitals, nursing
homes, clinics, physician offices and 10,000 employees, The Sisters of
the Third Order of St. Francis continue that Mission. We are all
called by God to console, understand, love and forgive.
As part of OSF HealthCare, OSF HealthPlans provides programs,
services, and benefits to promote wellness and health. We truly
